The Perfect Bag

Have you ever wanted a bag that could be worn with just about everything, handle any situation, and hold just about everything? Well, let me introduce you to LongchampI am fan of The College Prepster's blog and she always talks about it, that I ended up wanting one, but with my luck it was basically sold out EVERYWHERE. I literally waited about 2 months for it to come back from backorder at Neiman Marcus. The bag finally arrived this afternoon via FedEx.

It looks like not much fits in it, but it actually does. I got the Le Pliage in a Large. It fits my Macbook Pro, along with my wallet, iPhone, keys, gum, mints, etc. I actually carry a lot of stuff. Basically if you've never seen one or actually held one, it is ridiculously light. It has leather handles and the edges of the bag, a gold colored hard wear for the zipper and button, with a nylon overall body. I got mine in the color in which they call "New Navy". I figured it would go with everything, I though about getting it in gray or even white, but then, let's face it, pens breaking and such would have destroyed it. It's a bit expensive at $145 or $156 if you live in Texas with tax+Free Shipping, but that's because it's a French designer bag. It's priced around the same as some of the Michael Kors and Dooney & Bourke nylon/leather bags are priced. I liked this one opposed to those because it does not have the obnoxious brand plastered everywhere.

Besides, Catherine Duchess of Cambridge happens to be fan as well as other celebrities. ;).

Clean Eating|Eat Clean

I know I'm not the only one that posts pictures of their food on Instagram. I take random pictures, mostly food, selfies, man crush mondays, shoes, outfits, and of course,  my dog. Like I've mentioned before I've been on a bit of health kick and have been doing really good for the past few day. I've gone ahead and posted some of the food that I've been eating and drinking.

I have decided to "Eat Clean" or what some other call it, "Clean Eating." What's clean eating? Well it's exactly what it sounds like. Eating foods that are healthy, not over processed, and foods that don't contain ingredients you can't even pronounce when looking at the food label. I also try to eat about 90% organic, and I know it gets expensive so I try to stick to veggies that are cheap, and the rest that isn't then I just try to get as fresh as possible. For college students like myself, although I graduate in December so I'll be getting a big girl job hopefully upon graduation, it's hard to buy healthy stuff considering it's usually the most expensive in supermarkets. I shop around. I even take ads from other grocery stores and get it priced matched at Walmart Neighborhood Market. Now, I'm a Target kind of girl, but Super Targets are far from where I live, although, I am surrounded by 6 normal Targets, also I don't think they price match. So there is a way to eat healthy you just have to find ways to do it.

Whole foodsAnyways, today I went to Whole Foods for lunch. Have y'all seen their salad bar? Good lord, it's heaven! There's all kinds of veggies, green leafy lettuce, fruit, quinoa, and other vegan stuff. I built a really delicious salad, which I also replicated at home for dinner, minus the turkey. I selected the baby spinach-raisin-quinoa salad, topped with some shredded turkey breast, a sprinkle of parmesan cheese, and lightly topped it off with light ranch. On the side I had  mango slicked, a few green grapes, and cubes of cantaloupe. Here is a picture of my delicious lunch (and breakfast since I didn't have any)

New Music Monday

Hey there readers! It's been a while since I've last blogged, mostly because I have been busy with both of my summer classes. I have finally caught up with all the work and have time to come on here and focus on some writing. Now that I've explained where I have been, here is my newest post about music. I've added 3 new songs to my  playlist and they are:

So there you have it, my 3 new songs. I'd say they are all very catchy and will catch yourself humming and mouthing the words to the songs.

A song that I'm definitely not feeling? Justin Timberlake's new song Take Back The Night off his 20/20 Experience album part 2. It's just not all that. I was expecting more! I wished it sounded more along the lines as his album FutureSex/LoveSounds. We'll just have to wait and see what Mr. Suit&Tie has for us next.

Also, I'm missing the One Direction concert here in Dallas, not that I had tickets, but seriously, I wanted to go. Don't judge, I'm just a boy band music loving junkie, I did grow up in the boy band era.

Liquid meals for a busy girl

Hello readers! So I've mentioned before about my night class, well I don't have the time to eat lunch or dinner. I tend to eat breakfast pretty late around 10-11am, so naturally I don't get hungry until hours later and by the time I do, I'm usually leaving the house to endure the 1 hour commute to school. I also mentioned on a previous post about my purchase of the Ninja Blender and my trip to the grocery store for fruits.

Now this brings me to the title of my post. I have no time to eat so I take my meals on the go. How? I make a smoothie of course. I have a lot of Blender Bottles that I use to mix my protein powder in, which I happen to use EAS Lean&Tone Chocolate Fudge, it's delicious by the way. I use these to cary my smoothies when I make them.

Last night, or should I say afternoon, I fixed my self a mixed berry smoothie. Here are the ingredients:

  • a single package of Oikos Plain Greek Yogurt. (I like Chobani better, but it just so happens this is the one I picked up) This makes the smoothie really creamy.

  • about a cup of the mixed unsweetened frozen berries (strawberries, blue berries, and raspberries)

  • a medium sized frozen banana

  • 1/2 cup of organic light soy milk (I bought mines at Whole Foods)

  • 1 tsp of black chia seeds (I buy them in bulk from Whole Foods)

  • 6 ice cubes

  • 2 tsp of light organic agave nectar  (fewer calories than honey)

I blended everything and took it on the road with me. It was delicious! It was very filling and when I came home I didn't come home ready to ravage the fridge to find something to eat after sitting at school for about 4 hours. Well I did work out for 30 minutes before I headed to class, so there's that.

Ice cream? No, I made gelato

Remember on my last post that I made that impromptu blender purchase? Well, I read through the little recipe book and attempted to make ice cream. It wasn't it a hard recipe to follow, but it should had have in fine print, results will vary. And very they did.

I went to Walmart and bought some frozen strawberries, blueberries, sugar, vanilla extract, and some heavy whipping cream (fattening!). I spent about $12 on all of the items, although this will let me make this several times not just once.

I didn't think about making more than what the recipe called for because let's face it, I didn't know if it would taste good or better yet even come out looking remotely like ice cream. So after 1 hour at the grocery store, I know it was long for not many items, but I was with my sister and well, she can take forever, I brought them home and dumped the ingredients in my brand spanking new professional blender.

Here are the results: Not ice cream, but close enough. I give you gelato. It was delicious.

Temptation caused by store sales

I always like getting a good deal on purchases, but then again who doesn't? This morning my sister had me up by 7am so I could be up and alert to hit Macy's Preview Sale. I'm not a big fan of the department store, but I do love their kitchen/home department. I don't even have my own place, but that doesn't stop me from buying stuff. So here I was walking through the home department and guess what I spot on sale, the Ninja Blender. Ok, so maybe I don't need a blender, let alone a professional blender, but I mean it was on sale for $89. These blenders tend to retail for around $125-$200. Did I buy the blender? You bet I did!

I know it was an impulsive purchase, but then again most of my purchases are. I got home and put it together, which wasn't that hard, trust me. I sat there on the kitchen table asking myself, "What in the world am I going to use it for?" I already have those Blender Bottles for protein shakes, and my mother has those NutriBullet hand blenders. You can see why I was wondering what I would use it for. I read through the little cook book it came with, and low and behold you can actually make ice cream and gelato! I can't wait to start making my very own Gluten-Free Soy ice cream. I can also make soups and snow cones apparently in this thing.

I'm fairly exited to try this out now that I've purchased it. It's pretty loud I might add. I need to go to the store and buy fruit and the things to actually make the ice cream and gelato.

There happened to be other things that were on sale, but I managed to restrain myself from buying anything else. I almost went into the shoe department, and let me make myself clear, I don't need anymore shoes. At least not for a few months. I have bought 8 pairs of shoes in the past 2 months and that's not counting sandals. Just this past Tuesday I bought some Nike+Free Run shoes that were on sale at Dillard's. Are you seeing a trend here? Yes, I buy stuff it's on sale even if I don't need them, but I will need them eventually. That's my reasoning and I'm sticking to it! Oh, and I got an email this morning form Neiman Marcus' Last Call having an extra 30-50% off on sale items. I just can't resist, besides what kind of girl would I be if I passed on designer handbags that are marked down?

So there you have it my friends; I'm just a victim in the world of retail.

Long drives deserve good music.

Today I begin my second summer class for two days a week for the next five weeks. Did I mention before one is online and the other is on campus? A campus that happens to be 25 miles away from where I live and have to commute during rush hour traffic. Fabulous. 

On a good day, it will take me about 45 minutes to get to school using the tollway (faster speed limits) and then merge on to another highway then take street roads to get there. It's a long drive y'all. So what does one do on these types of drives? Well listen to a good playlist of course. I listen to the radio, but it gets annoying listening to commercials. Also, I haven't renewed my satellite radio subscription, so that's out of the question. So I make mix CDs, thank goodness for a 6-CD car stereo. My car doesn't have those iPhone/iPod/AUX connections, so I had to find an alternative.

Where has my summer gone?

Have you found asking yourself where summer has gone? I surely have! I mean I had a Maymester class at the beginning of summer, so that took up half 2 weeks of my "summer break". June went by in a blur, and in all honestly I can't remember what I did. It's not that I partied so hard that I forgot, not the case at all! I just don't know what I did. I worked on and off for my internship and did a lot of reading.

And here we are in July. Today was the start of one of my TWO 5 week summer classes. If you haven't kept up with my blog, or in this case my Tumblr blog than you would know I'm taking these to help me graduate in December. Besides starting my classes, starting to use flash cards and highlighters galore, I also recently, by that I mean today, had an interview for a potential internship. I'm not going into detail of what company I interviewed for, for obvious reasons. I'm excited about all of these potential internships, because hello, I'm getting ready to enter the working world, no longer an undergraduate.

I get two weeks off after taking these to classes and then it begins again. Tuesdays and Thursdays classes all day, but they'll be fun! Not easy classes by any means, but I get to work with real companies and put on campaigns. Some would say that sounds boring, but then again if I didn't find it interesting then, what am I doing in this field, right?

Today was a nice sunny day, so I took my blogging remote. Can you guess where? My favorite hangout spot for coffee. Starbucks! Yes, your eye don't deceive you. That my friends is a venti nonfat white chocolate mocha with an extra shot of espresso. Boom. I'm a coffee snob and I know it.

A Multicolored Weekend.

What a better way to spend a Saturday morning than walk/jog a 5K? It was such a fun idea when my friends and I signed up a couple of weeks ago, however, reality set it in when we realized we had to get up at 6:00am on a SATURDAY MORNING (what an ungodly hour for a weekend). It’s summer y’all, that time of the day just is not seen on weekends, seriously. Anyways, we made it to the DART Rail Station around 7:00am to get to Fair Park. It seriously took almost 2 miles of walking to just get to the starting line. When we finally started the event (Color Mob 5K) we were splattered with blue, pink, and finally yellow dye throughout the course of the race. In the end we went a little pink happy and it went everywhere as well as at the finish line where everyone was just throwing every color.


It was fun, I just wished we could have gotten the events official t-shirt for free and not had to pay for it. I mean, it was $25 with a groupon code, it would have cost $50 if it was directly from the people in-charge of the event. Regardless, I would have done it again. You get to help give money to charity, get your exercise, and have fun with friends. 


The downside? I ended up looking like a smurf mixed with shades of pink and green. It took a very LONG shower to get rid of the color, and even after I still stains of green and blue on my hands and legs.

I can’t wait to sign up for my next 5K, in the mean time I’ll be training so I can jog the complete 5K (about 3.1 miles, for those who are wondering).

Being ready for anything and everything.

Have you ever needed something? Such as a bandaid, hairband, hairspray, or even a lipstick and can’t find it or even have it in your handbag when you seem to need it the most?


I’m a big fan of big handbags, and I do mean BIG. I can fit everything in most of my bags and I do mean everything. I carry several pens, pencils, highlighters, a planner, my wallet, my coin purse, iPhone, iPhone charger, sunglasses, and sometimes my iPad. However, I always seem to be missing eyeglass wipes, girly stuff, translucent powder (let’s get real, I’m from Texas and the weather will get you sweating and you need to get rid of the shine), band-aids when I have cute shoes on but rub against the back if my heel and ankle, bobby pins, hair ties, hairspray for the fly aways and unexpected gust of winds that leave hair looking all kinds of wild, Advil for those unexpected headaches, and last but not least my lipstick.


Well, I finally figured how to carry all the necessary things that I always forget. Ever been to the make-up counter at department stores and buy a product and then given a cosmetic bags? I finally have a use for it! I have so many! If you ever get Clinique, LancÎme, or Estée Lauder they are notorious for giving out cosmetic bags with a purchase.


I call this my emergency kit! Everything stays in one place and I know it will be there and not floating around in my bag. Which, now that I think about it, I should really think about organizing all my pens and stuff.

Happy Independence Day, y’all!

Midway Point.

Who would have thought that we are in the last half of 2013? Time flys by so fast and everything in the first half of the year seems like a complete blur. I’m hoping the second half decides to slow down a bit. It’s my last semester in college and have spent most of my summer applying to internships to gain some experience in my Advertising and Public Relations field.


I’ve also been studying for the GRE to apply to grad school. I’m still dwelling on whether or not I decide to apply. It’s one of those things that’s still up in the air. I think it’s more of the idea that I’ll miss being in a classroom setting that makes me want to get my masters (call me a lifer I suppose); something that has been in my life for the past 15+ years. Perhaps, maybe after graduation, I can get classes to further my foreign language.


Look at me getting all sentimental of the future. :). Enough of that…


I think I’ve started of July with a healthy start. The day before yesterday I went to the grocery store and bought all sorts of healthy foods. Yesterday, I fixed myself an Egg White omelette stuffed with baby portobello mushrooms, organic baby spinach, onion, and diced red belled pepper and a pinch of red pepper flakes for a spicy kick. It was utterly delicious. Here are some photos of the omelette cooking process along with the final result.
