2014 New Year's Resolutions.

We all have them (resolutions), but rarely do we accomplish them. That doesn't prevent me from coming up with a list and see if I get any of them done by the years end. Although this upcoming year is slightly different than the others. I will not be going to school, so that "make the dean's list" resolution isn't going to be part of it, although, last year one read "graduate in December", that my friends got crossed off, I graduated :).

As I stated in a previous post, I really don't know what will happen in 2014. I don't have much of a plan other than apply for a job, hoped to get hired, and then well, whatever happens. It's so abstract that I feel that a lot of my New Year's Resolutions will get accomplished for the first time ever.

So here they are my 2014 New Year's Resolutions.

  • Go to the gym almost daily. Minimum of 4 days a week. (I have to attend 2 weddings and be part of the wedding party in 1). Also for health reasons.

  • Stop constantly checking my Twitter feed when I’m with friends.

  • Stop having my iPhone with me while eating dinner with my family.

  • Get more sleep. I think being in college for the past 5 years has caused my sleeping patterns to be not normal. Running on 3-5 hours of sleep just isn’t the best way to live my life. I’m going to shoot for 8 hours. I’ll be turning 25-years-old in 2014 and coffee and no sleep is taking a toll.

  • Begin writing a book. I love books, I love reading and admire all the writers that publish e-books and then go on to be best selling authors. I think/believe that I have it in me to be a novelist. Will it be good? I hope so.

  • Finally commit to getting that tattoo I’ve wanted for like the 5 years. Either the Egyptian Hieroglyphic Ankh (key of life) or the nerd in me really wants Harry Potter’s Deathly Hallows symbol.

  • Drink less coffee and more tea. I know I drink entirely too much coffee. I always claim i have antioxidants, but the caffeine is quite outrageous. I still want to keep my gold member status at Starbucks so Iced Passion Tea or Hot.

  • Cook more at home and less drive-thru. I actually enjoy cooking, do I enjoy the mess that happens when I cook? No way! But it's a lot healthier than hitting up the drive-thu even though it's very convenient. I get sick more often then not when I eat out too much, I suspect because of all the msg in the food.

  • Dedicate more time to this very blog! I want more readers, more feedback, more of everything. I want to take it to the next level. I write about my life on here, albeit a small part of it. My niche: My lifestyle. I don't want just a fashion blog, just a travel blog, just a cooking blog. It's family, friends, and me and everything that happens in a 20-something post grad and the struggles and how I live in the city.

There you have it guys, my 2014 resolutions! Here's to a big, questionable, unpredictable, and my year to turn a quarter century.

Happy New Years readers/followers. Hope you keep reading my blog and follow my life.

Until next time,
Felipa xoxo

Travel The World

While on winter break, well not really, since I graduated and let's face it, I'm really just on a break. Anyways, I've been watching a lot of documentaries on Netflix, PBS App, and YouTube. What kind of documentaries? Well the European art, monuments and world famous artist/painters kind.

I've never been one to travel mostly because I hate the hassle that comes with traveling. Also, I get very homesick. The title of this blog post is a little misleading, I don't want to really travel the world, just mainly Europe. I've always been fascinated by it. All the great artists, the buildings, monuments to ancient and earlier rulers.

I studied French for about 5-6 years so France, specifically Paris always has been a place for me to visit. I also love museums so what's better than visiting the mother of all museums, The Louvre?! I know Spanish and know that I'm only 2 generations separated from actual relatives that were Spanish born. My great-grandparents on my dad side of the family are the ones that are from Spain. So I guess this would be an opportunity to travel to the "real" motherland, I've been to Mexico, mostly central Mexico and Mexico City (I loved and hated the city; my eyes were always red because of the horrible pollution and you can actually see the yellow color in the sky if you get a room on a very high floor of a hotel, gross!) Now visiting Rome and Florence, Italy, are more about visiting churches and seeing Michelangelo's David.

Here are some of the things I would love to visit in Paris one day:

The Louvre: In the day and night, one because I'm sure one visit will not allow for me to see every exhibit and two, because it looks spectacular at night.

Musée du Louvre

Winged Victory of Samothrace: Besides the obvious Mona Lisa, this sculpture is one that I defiantly have to see! It's a marble sculpture from Ancient Greece from the time 200 B.C. (approximately). It's so grand and it's at the top of the main staircase inside the Louvre.

Winged Victory of Samothrace

Napoleon's tomb: Seems a little morbid, but just look where it is housed and he's the reason for some of the most famous avenues and monuments in Paris.

Napoleon's tomb, Les Invalides, Paris, France

Opera House in Paris: It's just so grand and majestic. It's so classic and everything that an opera house should represent.

Paris opera house

Arc de Triomphe: The momument on one of the worlds greatest avenues. I've seen the one in Mexico City that was inspired by this one as well as the avenue (El Paseo De La Reforma in Mexico City). I think it's time to see the original.

Arc de Triomphe

Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Paris: Being Catholic makes this a must see. It's the church that inspired the Hunchback of Notre-Dame. It has the classic gothic architecture and from the photos that I've seen has such amazing stain glass. I would love to sit and enjoy Mass in such a majestic cathedral.

Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Paris

Eiffel Tower: This is just a given. Go to Paris. See the Eiffel.

Tour Eiffel

In Spain there are plenty of places I would love to visit, but the first one would have to be to visit the Sagrada Famila Cathedral in Barcelona. Again, I love cathedrals and am Catholic, so this would be a check on the visits of Catholic Cathedrals.

Barcelona, Sagrada Familia

Rome (Vatican City) and Florence:

St. Peter's Basilica:

Basilica di San Pietro in Vaticano

Michelangelo's Creation of Man (Old Testament) Fresco Painting on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel:

Cappella Sistina

The Throne inside of St. Peter's Basilica by Bernini.

Basilica di San Pietro in Vaticano1

Michelangelo's Fresco Painting of The Last Judgment in the Sistine Chapel.

Michelangelo, Sistine Chapel, Rome

Pietà di Michelangelo:

Bernini's creation of Alter inside of St. Peter's Basilica

Vatican City, Rome, Lazio, Italy.

The Last Super by Leonardo Da Vinci in Santa Maria della Grazie, Milan.

Germany: Cologne Cathedral

Cologne Cathedral

And with all this talk of travel of course I would want new luggage. I've always loved the classic/vintage look of a leather duffel bag. So here are some of my favorite and the Louis Vuitton Keepall 55 Bandouliere will probably be my first one to purchase. It's a men's travel bag, but I just like the look of it and really only the color is the difference between the mens and women's travel bags.

There you have it! All the places, monuments, and cathedrals I want to visit in what I hope is within 3 years.

Where do you want to visit?

Until next time (or New Year!),

Merry Christmas!

How was everyone's holiday? Mine was spent with lots of chocolate and family. We parted from the traditional kings roast and sides for Christmas Eve dinner to a more Mexican-flaire dinner. There was enchiladas, rice, tamales, and other Mexican classics. Also lots of hot chocolate, specifically Mexican hot chocolate was sipped throughout the night and early morning Christmas Day. I received many gifts and gift cards, specifically pajama sets. I really did need some since I usually just slept in shorts and college shirts. My dog, Andy, also received plenty of gifts, if not more than any one individual. He's currently enjoying his toys.

We also all sat around the living room and watched the Pontiff deliver midnight mass from the Vatican. It's always so amazing to see how truly magnificent St. Peter's Basilica really looks. It's all so grand and majestic looking. I can't wait for the day that I get the chance to visit.

What did y'all receive?

Until next time,

Weekend wrap-up.

It has been a blur 2 weeks. In between graduating and waiting for presents to be delivered I have been basically neglecting this blog! Not cool. Well what have I been up to? I've been sending  resumes and applying for jobs, but because it is the end of the year I'm sure I'll be getting responses until the new year. Also, last minute shopping and wrapping of presents has also been taking quite of bit of my time. The ice storm sure did screw up with UPS, FedEx, and Postal Service delivery, which have also has been testing my patience.

Today however was a pretty chill day. I got to hang with my best-friends at Starbucks (this actually happens quite often). We held our "Annual Bestie Christmas Gift Exchange Edition: 2013". I tried to outdo Bianca's christmas wrapping, but I swear she ups her wrapping game every year! Regardless, we had a great time exchanging gifts, opening them, and sipping coffee and hot chocolate.

By the way...

Christmas is just 3 days away! Well, 2 if you actually count Christmas Eve. Also New Years is also only a little over a week away. I thought this year was dragging and all of a sudden it just passes in a complete blur! Holy crap, 2014 is going to be a giant adventurer for me. :)

But for now...

Below is a random collection of today and this weekend.

I'm done with school

After many posts of complaining and ranting about projects and homework, I can finally say that I'm done! This past Saturday I crossed the stage, shook some hands, moved the tassel from right to left, and I graduated! :)

It was a long 5 and a half years of major switching and concentrating on a minor. I graduated with a B.A. in Communications (Advertising) with a minor in Public Relations. It was a 2 hour ceremony that really didn't seem so long. It was ridiculously cold and wearing a dress under a flimsy graduation gown wasn't very fun. I got to graduate with most of advertising class and classmates I've known for a few years.

The change of becoming a post-grad now has taken to this very website. I have changed the sub-heading from "The Ramblings of a College Student" to "The Ramblings of Post-Graduate". Fitting, huh? Also my bio on both Twitter and Instagram have changed and now both contain "UT-Arlington Alumna".

Below are some photos from the night and perhaps in the future I will post more if and when the school uploads some of the photos they took.

Where to go from here.

Today I took my last finals of my undergraduate career. Let me rewind, I took my last actual test with multiple-choice questions and open-ended questions of my undergraduate career. I still have to do a presentation on Thursday with my advertising "mini-agency/group."  It's a bit bittersweet to have to say good-bye to the people that I've spent the past 5 years learning with and from.

I've always wanted out of college, not that I didn't enjoy it, I really did/do. After changing my original major and then trying to settle on a certain minor, I was beyond ready to graduate. I always thought I would graduate in 4 years, no such luck. I love academia, it's not for some people but it is for me. I've always enjoyed learning daily, expanding my mind, meeting new people, and of course reading. Did I like reading assigned material all the time? heck no! I would sometime put it off until the last minute, but it would get done. I've spent the better part of the year focusing on passing my classes, making sure I had enough credit hours (which I happen to have too many, I'm actually a few classes off from getting a major in both PR and French.)

Now here I am, wondering what in the world am I going to do after graduation. I graduate THIS SATURDAY. It's 4 days away at 7pm. Being at home and being a bum is not going to cut it nor is it an option. I'm never been much of lazy person to begin with. I'm actually a morning person and night person, not much a 1pm-3pm person, why? I've never figured it out but I tend to slow down between those hours.

I've constantly wondered and imagined what life after graduation would be like, now my life is basically a giant question mark! I don't know what's going to happen, what I'm going to do, although I do know I'm applying to jobs like everywhere and hoping to God that I'm employed by January. I've never had so much uncertainty in my life since I changed my major at the end of my first semester in college. It's always been school, school, school, since kindergarten. I will no longer have the luxury of laying around the house because it's "winter break" , "spring break", or "summer break". I stop living my life in terms of semesters, but rather actual months, days, hours, minutes, seconds.

A friend of mine told me to take day by day and enjoy it as much as possible. Many other have agreed. I like structure in my life. I need to have the next step, always have, so I guess now is the time to go by the flow. Even though it stresses the hell out of me. I may or may not have freaked out about this whole subject yesterday. A wise person sent me a bible verse that helped put hope and ease to my anxiety of post graduation.
"You are the light of the world. A city set in a mountain cannot be hidden."-Mathew 5:14

Until next time,

Icemagedon, ice storm, cabin fever.

I used to look forward to snow days, but when it comes to ice days? I hate them! Why you ask? Well, I can't go anywhere. It's ridiculously cold. It doesn't snow, but it sure does sleet. My whole car was full of ice and the doors were frozen shut. The  car had icicles y'all! I just wanted to go to Target and buy some christmas lights to finish decorating the house, but no! I'm stuck in the house with my family and two very needy, restless, an noisy dogs. Oh, and not to mention all I've been doing is snacking. There is candy, nuts, and every baked good you could imagine laid out. It's supposed to feel 6*F tomorrow morning with a high of 25*F. Oh joy! It was just 80*F like 3 days ago.

Oh well, I'll just stay indoors, unfortunately, and do some online shopping, last minute school work and study for my last finals ever! Although, I have contemplated graduate school, but let's save that for another day.

Here are some photos from my car:

Christmas Wish List

Hello readers! I'm officially out of school. My last day of formal class was yesterday, meaning that I only have to show up next week for 2 finals and a presentation. Then the big moment of walking across the stage happens next Saturday! It's only 10 days away and I'm excited and scared and this will be my last official winter break or should it really be considered winter break since I'm not going back in the spring? Oh well, I'm ready.

In the mean time, I have given some thought on what I'd like for Christmas. I usually don't ask what I want for Christmas, I actually like being surprised with whatever I'm given. That being said, I do have a wish list, no I don't get disappointed when I don't get what is on it, I always appreciate what I'm given. Below are some of the things that I like and or expect to buy myself sometime soon.

Do y'all have a wish list? If so what's on it?
