Blueberry and Banana Spinach Smoothie

This morning's smoothie was different front my past smoothies since it did not contain any kale. Today I used organic baby spinach leaves which is what I originally used to use until I decided what the big deal was with kale. I put blueberries and banana in today's smoothie which really wasn't much of a green smoothie since blueberries tend to stain everything with their pigmented color.

Blueberry and Banana Spinach Smoothie

photo 1-2 photo 2-2 photo 3-1

  • 1/4 cup of Skim Milk

  • 1 whole medium-sized banana (the riper the sweeter the banana)

  • 1 handful of Organic Baby Spinach

  • 1/4 cup of 0% fat-free Plain Greek Yogurt (I used Greek Gods from Whole Foods)

  • 1 teaspoon of Chia Seeds (I buy the dark ones from the loose bulk size isle at Whole Foods. These are a great source for omega-3, lowers blood sugar, and fills you more which leads to weight loss. These actually expand in your stomach making you feel fuller.)

Will you be trying this smoothie?

Until next time,

Make-up Haul

Let's me start off with, OMG! It's crazy cold! Like I've mentioned before I'm from Dallas, Texas and well just this past Sunday it was 72*F and this morning while I headed to the mall for some retail therapy, it was a chilly 22*F.

The best way to spend a cold day is to spend it inside a warm building full of my favorite shops. I drove over to NorthPark Center and walked around and searched for good finds. I will admit I paid full retail price on the make-up but I got an AMAZING deal on some booties.

I love love love red and dark plum colored lipstick. I went over to Neiman Marcus and had a little fun at the make-up counter. They always have some of the best sales associates and take care of whatever it is you want or need. I wasn't originally going to buy anything, but then I saw the lipsticks and well I ended up with lipsticks by Tom Ford in Bruised Plum, Lip Gloss in Wet Violet, and Extreme Mascara. Then, I went on over the Chanel counter and got my favorite red lipstick in Rouge Allure Velvet in "La Somptueuse".  At the end of the trip I headed over to Victoria's Secret to get a new primer ( I love their face primer!) and a lip plumping gloss that I've always wanted to try.

I can say today was a successful day of shopping and dealing with such a cold day. I'm dreaming of warmer days!

Bored of Plain Water

Hello readers!

I think I've mentioned on here before that I rarely drink soda, and when I say soda, I'm talking about Mountain Dew or Sprite. I've never been a fan of soda to begin with so it really isn't hard for me not to drink it. Besides the ingredient that gives the dark sodas their "caramel" color is being linked to causing cancer!

I prefer water when available if not, then it's lemonade or the blue Powerade. I must admit sometime drinking just water can get a bit, boring. I do like a little flavor here and there, which is why I like to sometimes add those Crystal Light packets to my water bottle, but not very often.

The other day while on a little healthy grocery shopping trip to Whole Foods, I came across to what I'm assuming a new product ( at least to me) that was similar to Crystal Light. The product was Trachealth Drink Mix- Chia + Strawberry Lemonade. The label said the it was "Plant based nutrition, antioxidants, electrolytes, Omega-3's, and fiber, non-gmo, gluten-free, and vegan." I'm a total sucker for new products and it seemed so healthy, even though it is 80 calories (probably because of the chia seeds). Today I finally got around to mixing the packet into some water. It's actually really good and not to sweet like with many of the water mixing drink packets tend to be. It is a bit weird drinking it at first because of the seeds. My suggestion is to let it sit for a few minutes so the seeds become soft and that way you won't have this crunchy texture when you're drinking it. It comes with awful lot of seeds, which I didn't finish. I would definitely buy it again, perhaps the box this time around and not just a sample 1-packet that I picked up that day. Or, I could maybe for a cheaper alternative (the Trachealth was 99-cents, not bad but I'm sure it could be cheaper) use the Crystal Light packet and just add a tablespoon of chia seeds (I buy chia seeds anyways for my smoothies). I'll post some photos of the drink below.

Will you be trying this product or making it your own? Or is it just to weird to drink something with seeds in it?

Until next time,

New smoothie recipe

Earlier this week I wrote a post of my three favorite go-to smoothies. Well today I ran into a bit of a problem. I had all the ingredients except for bananas. I LOVE having a banana in my smoothies so today I had to improvise.

Today's breakfast:
Blueberry-Strawberry Kale Smoothie

20140123-102117.jpg

1/2 cup of organic skim milk
    6 whole frozen strawberries
1/4 cup of frozen blueberries (My mom buys the Dole brand bulk size from Sam’s Club)
1 leaf of Organic Kale (I bought mines at Whole Foods)
1/4 cup of 0% fat-free Plain Greek Yogurt (I used Greek Gods from Whole Foods)
1-2tbsp of Agave Nectar (can be substituted for honey)
1 teaspoon of Chia Seeds (dark kind)

I hope you guys try this one too. I keep trying to come up with different ones. I am a very picky eater so I will only post recipes of smoothies that I actually like. I think my next one will involve coconut milk or maybe coconut water.

Until next time,
Felipa xoxo

Latitude and Longitude Cuff and Etsy!

Ever been on Etsy? Well, I spend way too much time on this website and they have so many cute things! Recently I've seen some of my favorite Fashion Bloggers with a bracelet with numbers on them. I was wondering if perhaps it might have been their birthday, but many had way too many numbers for that to be the case. Then, after a little research I discovered that they were actually Latitude and Longitude Cuffs. These cuffs display whatever city you choose to represent, I of course chose the coordinates for Dallas, Texas (hometown).

The other thing that I noticed? These types of cuffs are extremely expensive, because of the customization! Most if not all usually make theirs out of aluminum and some out of silver (expensive). I did some shopping around and ended up on Etsy, which then led me to ktyDIY's shop. The bracelet is custom made to whatever it is you want the coordinates to be. The best part? It's only $11.50 + shipping! Such a bargain considering other sites charge up to $100 for the same product. I received it quickly even though it was during peak holiday season and with all the delays because of ice back towards the end of December. I delayed writing about my bracelet because I wanted to see if it would last, basically test the quality. The results: It's adjustable to you wrist size and hasn't tarnished or anything. I received plenty of compliments and have also been stopped just to ask what it means. When people find out, they usually want to know where I bought it and so here it is! I might buy some more in the future as gifts.

Here is mine:

Hello readers!

I happen to own an insane amount of handbags. I basically go to the store and this is the conversation in my head, "Oh, that bag is cute, I think I'll buy it." More often than not, I end up purchasing the bag. I've collected several over the past few years that I actually don't use any of them besides my mom's vintage Chanel bag and my go-to Longchamp handbag. So, I've decided to open up a shop on eBay and occasionally sell some of my handbags.

Today's listing, which will be open for 7 days, is my Juicy Couture bag that was only used MAX 10 times since I bought it. This was actually an impulse buy on my part, I thought it was cute and well, now here I am trying to get rid of it.

Healthy Smoothies #smoothies #greensmoothies #healthy

If you follow my Instagram you might have noticed that I've been taking pictures of my drinks recently. These fruit smoothies are actually my morning and/or lunch ritual while at home. I drink them instead of having to actually bother to make breakfast and wanting to be healthy. Let's call it half laziness and health conscious. I have also been asked how I make them, so I was like why not just post the recipes here on my blog for everyone to enjoy. I hope you try some of these out at home in the mornings before work, school, or even workout sessions.

Blueberry-Banana Kale Smoothie

photo 4

  • 1/4 cup of water (filtered, bottled, distilled, or whatever you please)

  • 1 whole medium-sized banana (the riper the sweeter the banana)

  • 1/4 cup of frozen blueberries (My mom buys the Dole brand bulk size from Sam's Club)

  • 1 leaf of Organic Kale (I bought mines at Whole Foods)

  • 1/4 cup of 0% fat-free Plain Greek Yogurt (I used Greek Gods from Whole Foods)

  • 1-2tbsp of Agave Nectar (can be substituted for honey)

Blend everything until smooth, if it is too thick add water, for a colder drink add ice to blend, for more sweetness add more Agave Nectar to taste. I use a Ninja Blender ($99 at Macy's and other department stores) for a bigger batch or my Single-Serve Smoothie Blender by Hamilton Beach (around $16 at Target).

Peanut Butter(PB2)-Banana Kale with Chia Seeds Smoothie

  • 1/4 cup of Organic Skim Milk (I buy whichever is the cheapest at either Whole Foods or Central Market)

  • 1 whole medium-sized banana (the riper the sweeter the banana)

  • 2 tbsp of PB2 (Available at Walmart. It is powdered peanut-butter that has been rid of its oil so it's only 45 calories per serving. If you can't find it then add regular smooth peanut-butter)

  • 1 leaf of Organic Kale (I bought mines at Whole Foods)

  • 1/4 cup of 0% fat-free Plain Greek Yogurt (I used Greek Gods from Whole Foods)

  • 1 teaspoon of Chia Seeds (I buy the dark ones from the loose bulk size isle at Whole Foods. These are a great source for omega-3, lowers blood sugar, and fills you more which leads to weight loss. These actually expand in your stomach making you feel fuller.)

Orange and Banana-Kale with Chia Seeds Smoothie

I hope you all enjoy these recipes that all contain kale, if you can not find kale, you are more than welcome to add about a hand-full size of baby organic spinach leaves.

I'll post more recipes in the future while I test different fruits and vegetables.

Until next time,

Annual Best Friends Hockey Game

Yesterday was a long day, or at least it felt like it for me. In my opinion Tuesdays are the best days, because Pretty Little Liars, Ravenswood, and The Originals come on. I try to leave my Tuesday night open so I have time to watch all three shows and DVR them, when the times conflict. I had a major mental lapse since I ended up going to the Dallas Stars game. Don't get me wrong, love going to hockey games, but it was TUESDAY!

Surprisingly, the American Airlines Center was actually packed for a weekday game. Or perhaps because we (as if I play, LOL) were playing a Canadian team and those tend to bring the crowds out. I think my friends and I brought the good luck since we won 5-2 snapping a 6-game loosing streak! There was a fight, so that always makes things interesting. It seems that for the past couple of seasons the "Four Besties" meaning my self along with my other 3 friends, always end up going to one game together. We go in pairs sometimes, but rarely all 4 together. It's always entertaining and end up being the ones laughing the whole time.

It's been a slow week so far, but then again it's only Wednesday and the days that follow usually go faster than they should.

Here are photo's from last nights game. We pretty awesome seats, not to mention that they were free. That's a major plus :).

Stars

2014 Planners: Get Organized

Ever wanted a really cute personalized planner? Well below I have listed 2 places, one of which I've purchased often and the other I just discovered today (I've bought from Etsy before, but not the designer). I used to have a hard time keeping dates and assignments straight by just using iCal. I don't know about y'all, but I had to at least have the assignment or errand written down somewhere else besides my iPhone, iPad, or MacBook. I'm more a visual person so seeing it on paper helped. The following planners are for those that like personalization and for those that like DIY projects.

May Designs:

Cost: $22 planner with monogram; $17 planner with no monogram

Image

Many designs are available in patterns and colors imaginable. If you’re lucky, there’s a coupon for 50%-off sometimes on Good Morning America deals. Also, if you subscribe to their newsletter there are some deals that they send out from time to time. I’ve bought quite a few planners from this company and love them! They have enough space to write down assignments (I used them for school) and a monthly overview. They are sturdy, light, and thin enough that they wont add any weight or space to your bag. When I’m done with them I tend to rip the front cover and keeping the design with my monogram. They are too cute to just get rid of them. (I’m a bit of a hoarder.)  Here’s the link so you can get yours: http://www.maydesigns.com/shop/books

Etsy:

Cost: They range from $12-$14.
I love shopping for stuff on Etsy. I spend more money than I should or need, but who can resist cute cheap stuff? Well browsing around the site I noticed a lot of options for 2014 planners. Are you a DIY-selfer? You can buy printable planners that can be bound at your local Kinkos or similar, or just simply put in a 3-ring binder. They are customizable and be reprinted however many times you want. One shop that caught my eye was LauraDraytonCreative. She has many cute designs with monograms, chevron prints, etc. The inside of the printable planner uses labels that resemble washi tape! How cute?! Here’s a picture and link to the shop:

Until next time,

P.S.: I've been working on a project featuring Instagram photo's that I've had printed by Postal Pix. I'll keep an update of that on another post or perhaps I might get finished early! Yay.

A New Year and New Adventures.

How was everyone's first day of 2014? I unlike some of America, I did not sustain a hangover, because I didn't actually drink besides the occasionally sip. If anything, I was ready to pass out of exhaustion by 10pm. I made it to midnight though after drinking some much needed coffee to give me a little boost.

So yesterday after actually waking up really early, my best-friends all decided to hangout even though we really didn't have an actual plan. Where did we end up? The Fort Worth's Stock Yards! It's so different than Dallas in so many ways. It haven't been to Fort Worth in years. I just don't have a reason to go, every time I want to go to a show at Billy Bob's the artist I want to see doesn't hit the stage until 11pm and that's just not a night drive I'd like to make.

We walked around for a while and then explored Sundance Square for a bit after walking the Stock Yards. We rounded up the day for dinner at Olive Garden, which I didn't touch my entrée since I filled up on salad and breadsticks. Olive Garden salad and breadsticks get the best of me all the time.

Here are some photos of the years first adventure!
