New Year Organization

in , by Felipa Villegas, 7:30 PM
It might not be 2016 or New Year's Eve for that matter, but I'm getting a head start with my organization. I love planners, like a lot! It's been a few months since I've gotten a MAMBI Happy Planner and getting introduced to the planner stickers.

Last month, I purchased a Cricut machine to help me save money by making my own planner stickers. For the past 2 days, I've been designing and printing planner stickers for this week and next week (when I go back to work, after 2 weeks off). Below are some of the stickers I've designed and the sticker spread for this week.

Perhaps my organization is a lot but it helps me remember meetings, blog posts, budgeting, and social media posts.

Can you see my weekly playlist? Listen to some of the key songs I'm listening to this week:

  • Fine by Kacey Musgraves
  • Order More by G-Eazy
  • Ghosts by Josh Abbot Band
  • No Pressure by Justin Bieber
  • Again by Fetty Wap
  • Drifting by G-Eazy
  • Dark Times by The Weeknd and Ed Sheeran

What are you doing to keep organized going into the new year? Let me know in the comments below!

Baby Christmas Gifts

in , , by Felipa Villegas, 10:29 PM
You’re probably wondering why I’m writing a blog about baby gifts. No, I’m not having a baby nor do I have one, but I do have a baby nephew. His name is Patrick, and he was November 4, 2015, and of course has taken time away from his favorite auntie ;). Also, I’ve been running around town getting my Christmas shopping finished. I, of course, was shopping for my nephew and ran across so many cute things. Below I’ll share some of my favorite things to buy that little baby in your life.

Cornbread Stuffing for Thanksgiving

in , by Felipa Villegas, 10:28 PM
Do you still need a good cornbread stuffing recipe for tomorrow? Well, I just finished the stuffing for tomorrow’s big day! It’s really easy to make for Thanksgiving or any occasion for that matter. Don’t stress, try this cornbread stuffing recipe!

  • 1 Box of Jiffy Cornbread Mix (follow the directions and bake)
  • 1/2 a Large White Onion or 1 Small White Onion
  • 1/2 red bell pepper
  • 1/2 green bell pepper
  • 10 baby carrots sliced or 3 regular sized carrots sliced
  • 5 baby bella mushrooms (can be omitted)
  • 3 stalks of celery
  • 1 can of chicken stock for same day bake (I used Swanson) (or 2 if you plan to make it the day before)
  • 1/2 stick of butter
  • 2 tablespoons of Olive Oil (any is fine, I used Trader Joe’s brand)
  • Seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon thyme
  • 1 tablespoon rosemary
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon pepper
  • 1 tablespoon oregano

Bake you Jiffy cornbread mix for 20 minutes and let it sit out to completely cool. This will easily be achieved by the time you’re finished cooking the veggies.

Chop and mince the onion, carrots, and celery and place them in the butter and olive oil mix in a medium preheated skillet. Allow them to ‘sweat’ until the onion is translucent and the carrots and celery mix isn’t too hard. Like the image below:

Add the chopped bell peppers and baby bella mushrooms with the seasoning. (Notice how translucent the carrot, celery, and onion mix is already.)

You will notice the veggie blend will have become kind of mushy after about 20 minutes at a medium heat. Now you will want to add your can of chicken stock to the mix and raise the temperature to a medium-high heat and semi reduce it like the photo below. Remember that cornbread mix you left to cool? Now it’s the best time to crumble it in the final serving dish you will use, also pictured below.

Once reduced add the mix to the top of the crumbled cornbread mix and then mix. Pictures below:

You will want to pop it into the oven to keep warm and brown the top portion a bit for 15 minutes at 350*F. If you were doing this the night before like I did, you would have to add about 1/4 of a cup of chicken stock to moisten it the stuffing and in the oven for 30-minutes or until completely warm through.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

Do you have a Canon T5 and can’t use a wireless shutter remote? I have the solution with this neat little CHEAP attachment. I’ll be showing you guys how you can attach it to your Canon T5 also referred to as a Canon 1200 so you can take your own outfit of the days for your blog!

I’ve always struggled but finding people to take my photos for me when I have outfits when going to work or what have you, not for lack of money, just crazy work schedule and keeping up with a blog. I purchased my Canon a few months ago because it was on sale since the T6 and T6i were about to hit stores. However, I decided to go for the T5 instead of T5i, because of the price and not really needing the flip screen at the time. Now here I am a few months down the road needing my photos taken. Well come to find out, the Canon T5 doesn’t have IR available, the radio frequency to allow the user to use those mini wireless shutter remotes to do self-photography.

I really didn’t want to use a wired shutter remote, because you would be able to see the cable and also because they don’t make them long enough. So, after a few hours or research through Google, Amazon, and YouTube, I found out you can buy a kit that contains WIRED transmitter (this connects to your camera) and the wireless remote that controls the shutter. It sounds complicated and intimidating, but it really isn’t!

I bought this kit off of Amazon: VILTORX JY-120-C1 wireless remote shutter release for Canon (This is not an affiliate link at all. This is just the direct link to the product/store I bought it from).
A little bit about the product:

Viltrox remote shutter release JY-120 can be used to operate the camera remotely by the wireless control to reduce camera shakiness and increase the sharpness of the images. Strong interference-resistance capacity and exhausted power consumption design benefit a longer period of use. The frequency is 2.4MHZ, and the product uses AAA battery.

The transmitter portion sits on top of your camera while plugged into the side where a traditional wired remote would be attached, next to the USB & HDMI plug-ins. Turn that on the small remote as well. A side not, the remote is extremely compact that it fits completely in the palm of my hand out of view. A half press of the remote focuses the lens and then a full press will take the photo. The only 2 settings I found it has is single shot or a continuous shot which the remote refers to as ‘BULB’.

The Cost:

$15.99 + $4.50 shipping. I’m not sure how the price changed but still comes out to about the same price I paid. I paid $20.99 with Prime 2-day shipping.

Here is how it looks on my camera:

How the packaging looks:

Final Thoughts:

So I really do love this handy gadget that will allow me to take daily OOTD as well as other subjects. It has a very LONG range! I tested it at by standing about 15 feet away from the camera and it still took pictures. It claims it can take photos from 100 meters. I put my camera on a tripod and snapped away. There is one slight problem, the transmitter covers the pop-up flash, however, everyone knows not to use it and stick with natural outdoor lighting so it’s not a big deal, well at least for me.

Would you consider buying it so you can take your own photos when you don’t have the budget or don’t ever have a great time so that a professional photographer can take your photos? Let me know in the comments below!

How to Make Your Own Acai Bowl

in , by Felipa Villegas, 10:18 PM
If you’re like me and follow other bloggers or foodies on Instagram or Snapchat, you might have noticed the biggest trend in foods these days are Acai Bowls! So, acai is a Brazillian berry that grows in the Amazon, or so says the packaging and every other article I’ve read online. I went to a local juice bar here in Dallas, or rather, Highland Park called Nektar Juice Bar. It was delicious! However, I had to choose either 3-4 days a week of my usual Starbucks or an acai bowl that’s around $7? I chose the coffee, but I did want to know if I could buy this stuff to make a bowl at home. And guess what? I found it!

I took a trip to my local Whole Foods because after some googling; everyone said that you couldn’t get the actual berry in the states, only in powder or frozen puree. I found the frozen puree in the frozen section at Whole Foods, and later found out they sold the powder at Vitamin Shoppe (this yields more product). It was $5 for a package of 4 acai frozen puree packets. Not bad considering one packet yields one bowl or smoothie. Below is the recipe I used to make my acai bowl.

First gather all the materials you would like to go in your bowl. Remember you can add anything to it in terms of fruit, but this time, I stuck the similar bowl I tasted at Nektar.

  • Sambazon – Acai Berry Unsweetened
  • Kind Protein Granola
  • Silk – Cashew Milk
  • Honey
  • Mando Fruit Blend – Unsweetened
  • Roasted coconut
  • Banana (not pictured)
  • Blender

Use one packet of the Sambazon acai and run it under a little warm water to soften and make it easier to come out of it’s packaging. Then, add that to your blender. Measure 1/2 a cup of the cashew milk and add that to the blender as well. I used Cashew milk in this recipe, but you could also use juice, I recommend CranApple or any other non-dairy milk. The packaging also recommends not use milk, so stick to non-dairy. Add two hand fulls of the frozen fruit into the blender as well. Normally, I would only add half a frozen banana to the mix, but I didn’t have any frozen so I added the frozen fruit. Then add honey for some sweetness. The honey is more to your liking. I added about a tablespoon. And blend. If you see that your blender is having a hard time blending, shake around or and small splash of milk or liquid. You really want to have a thick blend, similar to a Jamba Juice shake.

Will you all be trying this recipe? Have you ever had an acai bowl before? Let me know in the comments below!

Three Fall Outfit of the Days

in , by Felipa Villegas, 10:16 PM

I’m lucky enough to be allowed to wear casual clothes to work. And I really couldn’t help myself and started wearing some of my fall wardrobe. Luckily for me, it was pretty chilly in the mornings, and per usual, the office was cold.

Today’s quick post showcases what I wore to work last week. Most of the looks are affordable and I’ll post where you can also get the look!

This first look I’m wearing:

The Second Look is all from Target but all summer clothes that isn’t carried anymore.

However, you can find the grey Abercrombie jeans here.

Must Have Boots for This Season

in , by Felipa Villegas, 10:14 PM

It might still be extremely hot in Dallas, but it doesn’t mean the weather wont change soon. At least, that’s what the weather channel is saying anyways. I live for fall and winter weather! Mostly because I love the fashion, shoes (boots!), layers, and scarfs.

I’ve recently been on a hunt for some great weather shoes, specifically boots. I still have some good ones that I didn’t wear too much last season, but I was definitely on the hunt for a new pair of rider and ankle booties. After some searching, and let’s face it, I was looking for a bargain, because I’ll probably just want new ones next year and didn’t feel like blowing $400 on some that I will scuff and probably break the heel on them. Trust me, this happened last year. So maddening! Here are my picks for the must-have boots:
Top 5 Boots For This Season:
Sam Edlemen Louie Bootie

These Sam Edlemen booties are very on trend this season. I like fringe, but let’s be honest, some boots over do it. These booties have enough to make a subtle statement and nice heel for cuffed skinny jeans. I found these to be one of the more affordable booties on the market for only $140. You can find these brown leather online exclusive at Abercrombie.

I will have a review on these soon. I’ve worn them a few times now so I can definitely give my honest opinion on these and give you all the details with close up images.

G by GUESS Heat Riding Boot

These affordable and essential riding boots are a must-have for any casual outfit. Riding boots always seem to be in style every fall/winter season. I bought these just the other day, and I’m still waiting for them to be delivered. I’ll also have a review on these once I’ve had a few days to try them out. These G by Guess boots were only $60 at DSW with a coupon. Ladies, do a search for DSW coupons, and you’ll find some great deals out there. Also, any purchase over $35 qualifies for free shipping, and they recently introduced ship to store.

TOMS ‘Desert’ Wedge Bootie

These are one of my favorite bootie/wedge combo around. It gives you a little bit of height, for us short girls, and makes it a really great go-to shoe for casual days with paired with some skinny jeans. These are only $88.95 at Nordstrom. I have seen other similar ones at other stores; I would even say Target has some. These will also make a great transition shoe for when spring rolls around.

Hunter Boot: Original Tour Buckled Welly Boot

These are unfortunately extremely hard to find in-stock at most stores that sell them. I ordered mines online and were basically overnighted when I ordered them the day before Thanksgiving last year from Neiman Marcus. These are a great pair to own for when it’s a rainy and snowy winter (which it is being predicted it will be here in DFW). They are also great for travel because the collapse and don’t take much room in your luggage. Also, they are just so classic and comfortable. They look great even when wearing dresses. At $150, they are a bargain compared to other higher-end designer rain boots.

Women’s Bean Boots by L.L.Bean®, 8″ Thinsulate

These are unfortunately back ordered until January. However, I would highly invest in these. There are other brands out there, but these are the only ones made in America and hand make every order. Help create American jobs by purchasing these. Also, they are known for lasting for YEARS! I’ve placed my order and can’t wait to get them. Luckily “winter” in Dallas lasts basically through March, so hey, I’ll still get to use them!

If you have been following me on Twitter or Instagram, then you probably now know about my obsession with my new scrapbook-like planner The Happy Planner by Me And My Big Idea and more recently, with planner stickers. I have been a planner addict since high school (I was involved in way too many school activities). I had a high school issued planner (actually it started in middle school) then the hunt for the cutest planner every year all through my senior year. My go to shop was of course Target.

Then when I got to college, I was given one for my freshman orientation, which I did use and became handy for events, holidays, breaks, etc. After that year, it became the same old let me go to Target and find a good academic planner. Finally, my Junior and Senior year, I was watching GMA (Good Morning America) and noticed they were offering a discount code on regular and academic planners by Many books/MayDesigns. I was hooked! I’ve bought this planner for the past five years since I was first introduced to them. I still order from this site, however, now just to have cute personalized journals.

Now, one day, it was late at night, and it started off with watching videos from my favorite Makeup YouTube Guru, Nicole Guerriero, that I saw a suggested video of ‘Plan with Me’. Of course I was like, “why do people want to show others how they write in a planner?”

OMG! I’m so glad I watched it because it introduced me to what people were doing with their Erin Condren and MAMBI Happy Planner. After that, I probably spent another 1 to 2 hours watching “plan with me” videos. I was addicted especially after I saw the different types of stickers everyone used to personalize their planner.
By the way my favorite planners on YouTube:

And the day before I left for New Orleans (blog is coming) I ordered my MAMBI Planner (it was more that 50% off what an Erin Condren planner cost. I didn’t want to commit to such an expensive planner if I knew I was going to be spending more money on stickers, templates, etc. That’s just me, though. The Erin Condren is just as good, and perhaps considered the original in this scrapbook-like planner. I just chose a budget friendly one that wouldn’t make me feel guilty for buying it then just gave up on it. But I doubt I will, I bought a lot of sticker templates the weekend I came back from vacation.

The best part about these shops? They offer PDF and JPEG sticker printables for less than $3! I actually use heavy 65lb cardstock from Michael’s that is on sale this week for $2 for 50 sheets and just cut the shapes out and use crafters glue or a tape runner, whichever is within reach of me and my planner. I have a regular HP Wireless OfficeJet Printer. Nothing fancy.

Here are pictured from this week’s spread that I decorated. I need to get more washi tape to add and cover some of space not covered by the “stickers”:
Planner Stickers

I’ll be posting photos of my planner on my Iinstagram: @iamfelipa of the next weeks spread.

Is this something you would do? Or is it just too much? Let me know in the comments below!

Ed Sheeran at Toyota Stadium

by Felipa Villegas, 10:11 PM
Saturday night my best friend Jessica and I attended the Ed Sheeran X Concert in Frisco, Texas. This was actually my birthday present to Jessica!

Let’s start by saying that it was EXTREMELY crowded, and the parking was a nightmare. It was my first time going to the stadium (soccer) and didn’t realize just how big it was. Luckily for us, we sat with our backs facing west, which totally blocked the sun. Our seats were on the right of the stage; it still felt like we were pretty far even though we were only 1 section away from the stage. That’s just how big the stadium felt. Think AT&T Stadium (Cowboys) if you’ve ever been there.

I was snapchatting (add me: iamfelipa) throughout the concert, but of course when you have like 50,000 people around you using cell phones, it slows if not halts all service even with full bars. It was annoying. The snaps should still be up, but fear not, I also captured video and pictures with my phone, so I’ve compiled it into a 6-minute video below. I, unfortunately, missed recording his epic encore or should I say his 30-minute EPIC encore. He went BANANAS and sang one of his songs then mixed it with 50 Cent’s- In the Club, a variety of Eminem, Drake’s Know Yourself, and a lot more. He rapped so fast and for so long it was hard to keep up. I did capture the very last song of his encore, which is the last clip on the video.

I really can’t wait to see him again. Also, he has no band with him. It’s just Ed, his guitars, and a looping system.

Separate to the concert review:

I’ve been completely MIA from the good ole blog here, but that’s because work has been extremely busy! Events every Monday late hours, birthdays, planning for NOLA, and a baby shower.

Now that labor day weekend is here, I have enough time to enjoy my weekend and WRITE. So more content is on its way!

Stay tuned,

JustFab: Beya Review

by Felipa Villegas, 10:08 PM
Shoes are my obsession. I own more shoes than I own pants.  I’ve done previous reviews about my last pair and the ones before.
Today, I’m reviewing the Beya High-Top Wedge Sneaker from JustFab.

Beya Wedge Sneaker
Beya is a 3″ wedge high-top sneaker that has zippers on the front and back as well as shoe laces. I personally loosened the laces so it wouldn’t be too tight by my toes. I also leave the back zipper open for added comfort and loose feel by the top of my ankles. The black sneaker comes with gold hardware. It was hard for me to choose which colour to get, ultimately I chose the black ones over the grey ones with silver hardware.
I would recommend these for anyone looking for an affordable sneaker and adding a little height to your everyday hipster style. I like switching my shoe style up and I’ve never actually worn sneakers like these before. These are also an affordable alternative to other brands that retail for more than $200.
Have you ever bought any wedge sneakers before or any JustFab ones? Let me know in the comments below! :)
Until next time,
Felipa xoxo

As a blogger, I occasionally receive items to review, and I recently was selected by Influenster to receive two full-sized products by the Schwarzkopf Ultime products.
Schwarzkopf Ultmie CreamOne of the items I received was the Ultime Elastin Curls & Moisture Curl Defining Cream. I thought that it was incredible. The cream feels like you’re putting conditioner in your hair. It definitely doesn’t feel gunky like when putting on some thick gel or even some leave-in conditioners. I used this product when my hair was slightly damp and when it dried it left it shiny, and my curls were more defined and the best part perhaps was that it made them FRIZZ FREE! I plan on buying more of this product once I finish the one that was sent to me. I believe it’s available exclusively at Walmart stores.
sprayThe second item I received was the Schwarzkopf Styliste Ultime Elastin Curls & Moisture Soft Tousle Spray. I’ll tell you right now that I was not a fan of this spray. I’ve never been a fan of any of the “tousle sprays”. I have curly hair, and it’s also very porous and can easily dry out. This spray did just that; it dried it out. It felt like I was putting dry shampoo in my hair and made it look kind of dead. I tried three different times. Once when my hair was dry–it felt super chalky and dry. On the second day, I put it on my damp hair and let it air dry. This made my hair have beachy waves that looked good, but there was no shine to my hair. Again, my hair is curly and very porous, so I suspect that there was no shine of this reason. On the third occasion of using this product, I had straightened my hair and then used it, to see how it would look. It left my hair feel heavy and just a tousled hot mess. I don’t think this product was meant for my hair type at all. Maybe if you use it just on wet hair, it’ll look good, but any other way, it’s a hit or miss look.
I hope my review helped some of y’all’s decision on these two products. Remember I have curly so that you could have different results to these products.
Schwarzkopf and Influenster provided the products for review and use. All opinions are my own.

I’m back again with another shoe review! I finally found a pair of shoes that I liked this month from JustFab. If you didn’t read my initial review of becoming a VIP for JustFab and ShoeDazzle, you can read it here.
I purchased JustFab’s Jax Bootie for the summer! They are opened up or “cut out” by the ankle enough so your foot is comfortable during a hot summer day. They did fit slightly snug near the middle of my foot, which I found weird because a fairly normal sized foot; not wide. I did apply some Band-Aid Friction Block Stick and my foot glided in eliminating the snug fit. If you’ve never used the Band-Aid Friction Stick, then you must! Seriously, you’ll see no blister or eliminate the snug feel of new shoes.
They are extremely comfortable to walk in because of the block 3″ stack heel. I’m seriously the worst at wearing heels of any kind! I’m more comfortable in flats or sandals. The look great with jeans, shorts, and summer dresses. And the best part? They were only $39.95 with free shipping! If of course you are a VIP member.
IMG_1666 IMG_1668 IMG_1672
My one true complaint would have to be that the back zipper closure is really hard. Maybe adding a little wax to the zipper will make it easier to zip and unzip.
What do y’all think? Would y’all buy these? Let me know in the comments!

Neiman Marcus Project Beauty

by Felipa Villegas, 9:59 PM
neiman marcus
Last Saturday, I went to North Park Center's Neiman Marcus for their first ever Project Beauty + InStyle! It was extremely fun and much like what Nordstrom's beauty trend is like.
However, this is Neiman's we are talking about. They gave out mimosas to all those in attendance and an alcohol infused Italian ice. Also small hors d'oeuvres that were delicious by the way.
The event was focused mostly on beauty products with the fashion being almost as an afterthought. They did however mention it, and quite honestly, it was very noticeable, some of the outfits were to die for!
The show was not terribly long, which was good, really. No one likes sitting for too long. The brands that we saw at the event were Dior, La Mer, Fresh, Lancôme, Xen-Ten, Natura Bissé, V76 by Vaughn, Laura Mercier, Jo Malone London, and Chantecaille. Below are some photos I took of the event. For the record I walked out of there with a year's supply of Dior makeup... oops 😋.
The look above was my favorite of the show! It's by Alice & Olivia, which is available in the Neiman's Cusp section. Notice all the white fashion trend!
I'm hoping they put on another show this fall!
Until next time,
If you follow me on instagram or snapchat (both usernames: @iamfelipa), you might have seen a sneak peak of this month's Birchbox curated by Meghan Markle from The Tig.

Let me start off that the Real Chemistry is AMAZING! Also, quite disgusting when you think about the dead skin rolls off your face, I know visual, gross. I'm also a big fan of the Davines hair and body wash it smells great and leaves my hair feeling very clean, i.e., no residue.

My previous birchboxes have included the Harvey Price body cream, and although I do like it, I don't LOVE it. I have about 4 tubes of the lotion. I'm very picky about perfume, so I'll go ahead and say I love how Oribe smells! It reminds me like it's a mix between the Marc Jacobs Daisy scent and perhaps the Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue. It's not too fruity and not too cologne-ish scent. I'd definitely consider buying the full-size bottle.

I tried the BB cream by Marcelle and even though I did like that it wasn't greasy I'd only wear this to the gym, so I don't look completely dead while working out. Would I ever pay $27 for the full size tube? Probably not, because there are plenty of cost-friendly options you can find at target that offer the same coverage and consistency.

If you you subscribe to Birchbox, which box did you choose this month? Which product is your favorite? All the products I received can be seen below:

Until next time,
Felipa xoxo

Look at me posting twice in one week! Slowly but surely, getting back to regularly updated content!

Now to my must have product!

Here is my ABOSOLUTE FAVORITE beauty product I've purchased all month!

I finally went to the store and tried out the Diorskin Airflash Matte Touch. It's basically a translucent powder, sans the powder mess. I'm probably late to the party, I've known for a while they have their regular airflash foundation, but I never needed it, since I own a airbrush system.

However, with the ridiculous humidity and weather we have going on here in Dallas even my regular translucent powder wasn't cutting it! My "T-Zone" was ridiculously shiny, which when it's not humid and raining, I don't even have to use matte makeup. I didn't know what to do so I went to the Neiman's Beauty Counter to find a solution ASAP! They had some in stock and I snapped it up real quick! Also, Meriam over at the Northpark Neiman Marcus was EXTREMELY helpful and nice! Seriously y'all, everyone in that store has always had the best attitude and eagerness to help whenever I go.

This stuff is AMAZING. You apply it in a "Z" motion and then it basically acts like a makeup setter. It's actually does have some tint --beige, but you can't tell if that is in your color range. I happen to be a natural beige skin tone so it's perfect. My only dislike is that it gets on your hair and looks white or like you put dry shampoo and it didn't distribute evenly lol.

I say buy it if you suffer from T-Zone probs, but it does come at a price. It's $50, I don't know how long it will last me, but luckily for me, I don't wear makeup unless I'm going to work or out with friends. If I'm out running errands, than I just put a light coating of foundation and a bit powder and I'm out the door. Oh and eyeliner, don't forget the eyeliner.

If you guys live in Dallas, then I'll let you all in on something! Neiman Marcus at NorthPark Center, is hosting it's first ever Project Beauty show! Similar to what Nordstroms Beauty Trend Show.

If you buy a beauty product and purchase a $25 gift card, basically the gift card acts like a ticket to the event, BUT you pick it up the day of the event and use it towards a purchase that day. It'll be all high-end designers with amazing samples and they said the handbags will be better than when they have their fragrance events! I love those by the way. The event is June 13th at 10:30am. Hope to see some of you all there!

Until next time,

Felipa xoxo
